SUMMARY:

A master's research entitled “A public-private relationship in the school context of the city of Rio de Janeiro: a study on the Itaú-Unicef Award (1995-2019)” seeks to study and map as actions of the Itaú Social Independente Foundation, in Rio de Janeiro, through public-private partnerships through the “Itaú-Unicef Award”, which this year celebrates 24 years after its creation. It is during a political conjuncture experienced in the country in the 80's and 90's, with the implementation of a new political-ideological model of neoliberalism, which is observed or increased by the participation of the business and banking sector directly in education, either through partnerships or performance in the policy of educational public policies. During this period, the concepts of "corporate citizen" and "social responsibility" that act in order to transfer the responsibility and state functions to the community are being disseminated. This conception advances from the expansion and implementation of a series of public policies, federal laws as nº 9.637 / 1998; 9,790 / 1999 and 11,079 / 2004, provided a favorable scenario for companies to enter school spaces, with policies that claim to contribute to “quality” education. These laws opened the possibility of expanding public-private partnerships with policies that claimed to contribute to “quality” education through partnerships. It is in this educational political scenario that the Itaú Unicef Award is created, an initiative of the Itaú Social Foundation and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with technical coordination from the Center for Studies and Research in Education, Culture and Community Action (Cenpec).In this research, consider it essential to discuss what are the objectives and interests stimulated by private companies seeking participation in the field of public education, considering the conflict of interest over their requirements, or if such investments do not result in the loss of public education . To answer this question, do a desk review to map Fundação Itaú Social's programs and projects, understand its educational objectives and indicate as partner institutions. Selected one of its most recent programs, which concerns the idea of integral education, in partnership with public schools, the Itaú Unicef Award. This is a qualitative research with documentary analysis, to discuss how the Itaú Social Foundation, in educational areas, map or its field of action, raise the different types of educational strategies, in order to understand their conceptions about education and what they are like. real intentions applied with public education of the country.
