SUMMARY:
The main objective of the present work is to bring to light the main tensions and obstacles that have arisen in the work related to ethnic-racial relations and African or Afro-Brazilian culture in schools due to issues related to religiosity, mainly neo-Pentecostal. In this text we will approach the invisibility and denial of other forms of knowledge and cultures, starting from the religious racism focused on African matrices that constitutes a form of racism that we characterize as epistemic. From this perspective, the forms of knowledge belonging to certain groups are disregarded, denied and made invisible. From these reflections, the following questions arise: what tensions and conflicts have pedagogical practices linked to African and Afro-Brazilian history and culture aroused in school spaces, related to subjects belonging to neo-Pentecostal evangelical churches? Among the groups that make up the school community (teachers, students, guardians, principals, etc.) which ones tend to present greater resistance and how do they react to these practices? What is the profile of educators who seek to apply law 10639/03 in their pedagogical practices? Faced with the challenges that arise, what answers do they give? In addition to the moments in which the racial issue or elements of African or Afro-Brazilian history and culture are being addressed, are there other situations in the school environment in which conflicts related to religiosity arise? To dialogue with the questions raised here, the work will theoretically be supported by the ideas of the group called Modernidade\ Colonialidade, especially in the concepts of coloniality and epistemic racism. We will also seek to discuss conceptions of neo-Pentecostal evangelical religiosities and African matrices.
