Special Classes and Specialized Educational Service: For what and for whom? Organizational designs in the inclusion process of the Municipal Network of Duque de Caxias/RJ

The purpose of this master's research will be public education policies with an emphasis on the analysis of the inclusion of students in the target audience of Special Education, with the centrality of problematizing different organizational designs that occur simultaneously in the same school environment, in the municipality of Duque de Caxias - RJ. The objectives of the research were listed: To focus on the factual scenario of the reality of municipal public schools in Duque de Caxias, characterizing the organizational designs used in the process of inclusion of students with disabilities, aiming to contribute to the redefinition of their practices enhanced by theory and characterize the proposals of each of the organizational designs established in the researched units and how the objectives proposed for them have been presented. Four schools in the Education Network of the municipality of Duque de Caxias (one in each of the districts) were the locus of the research and the subjects interviewed will be thirteen education professionals, they are: four teachers-regents of the Special Classes, four teachers of the AEE and four members of the Technical-Pedagogical Team and a professional from the Municipal Department of Education (SME), working at DAIE (Department of Educational Accessibility and Inclusion). The research will be carried out with an emphasis on Theodor Adorno's Critical Theory (1995; 2002). Furthermore, we are anchored in other scholars such as Damasceno (2006; 2020) and Kassar (2006), for their significant contributions to the discussion developed in this study. Document analysis, application of a characterization questionnaire and semi-structured interview were used as methodological procedures/instruments. This master's thesis will enable the promotion of debates on public policies aimed at the target audience of Special Education from an inclusive perspective and on the organizational designs developed in municipal schools in Duque de Caxias/RJ, which may contribute to combating exclusionary practices still present in schools.
