SUMMARY:
When thinking about the beginning of university culture in Brazil, this space was always
occupied by male, white and financially privileged people, however, this scenario began
to change as a result of affirmative policies that sought to insert the popular classes into
university seats, especially black people. However, from the range of students served by
such public policies, this research seeks to observe, particularly women, giving greater
emphasis to poor black women, with experience of motherhood and its impacts on
academic life.
Therefore, the general objective of this research was to investigate the contexts, conditions
and opportunities experienced by black and non-black undergraduate and postgraduate
students, putting into discussion the permanence policies and their effects, highlighting
the student housing at USP and UFRRJ, so that it is possible to measure the relationship
between the trajectory of university women who are mothers, the quality of their training,
and the achievement of a diploma.
To achieve this objective, the research covers the history of female education in Brazil,
explores concepts such as the social and sexual division of labor and highlights the
contributions of social movements to the black population's access to education, with
special attention to the role of women black. Furthermore, it examines how public
educational policies, always influenced by elitism, racism and patriarchalism, have
evolved, up to the challenges of current times.
The methodology adopted involves an integrated approach, combining bibliographic
review, photographic resources and interviews.
