SUMMARY:

The present work has as its main objective the construction of the historiography of the Colegio Estadual Presidente Dutra, founded in 1946 and, currently, located on Highway BR 465 in front of the Instituto de Educação da UFRRJ in the municipality of Seropédica, recognizing the importance of historical memory in the configuration of society and its intrinsic relationship with identity. The temporary cut will cover the creation of the institution in the dependencies of UFRRJ until the current days, aiming to gather and analyze memories, stories, documents and vestiges related to the institution, aiming to understand and reconstruct its history over decades. The working methodology will follow the process of qualitative analysis of historical and documentary character with insertion into the field of Educational History. Supported by Bloch's understanding of history (2001), involving documentary research in public and private archives, it is based on an expanded conception of what is considered a document and how it is analyzed, also by interviews (ALBERTI, 2005) and its ways of conducting (BOURDIEU, 2008). The Presidente Dutra State College is not limited to being just a medium-level school with a regular teaching modality, but also a center of memory and exchange of experiences. The narratives of the former students are intertwined with the experiences shared by the teachers, contributing to training not only academic, but also to the people who pass through their classrooms. The testimonial institution is not only the formal learning process, but also the emergence of lasting friendships, the development of individual talents and the consolidation of a school community. By gathering and analyzing these diverse narratives and experiences, this work seeks not only to reconstruct the history of Colegio Estadual Presidente Dutra, but also to understand its importance in the formation of the individual and collective identity of students and the local community.
