The Master’s reseasch, still in the Qualification phase, aims to investigate how training of agricultural education professionals is happening, at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, in the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro and if the Institution's agrarian tradition has influenced the daily life of these courses. The investigated courses are: Degree in Agricultural Education - LICA (undergraduate) and Postgraduate Program in Agricultural Education - PPGEA (graduate). It is a basic, qualitative, descriptive research, which uses information extracted from bibliographic research, elaborated from material already published, such books, articles, periodicals, internet, among others, and documental research, elaborated from material that received no analytical treatment. This is a case study that will use questionnaires to deepen the data collection. The reflections and analyzes will be developed from a historical-critical view of the research problem, which will guide the entire methodological path. The study is developed based on the history of the Institution. In the first chapter, it covers the period from 1910 to 1970, presenting the historical path in which the agrarian tradition was built and consolidated. In the second chapter, it discusses the institution's removal from its agrarian tradition, covering the period from 1970 until the implementation of the Support Program for Federal University Restructuring and Expansion Plans (REUNI), in 2007, a milestone in the opening of courses abroad of the agrarian area at UFRRJ. The chapter III will bring the history of the Degree in Agricultural Sciences, its contribution to UFRRJ, the curriculum of the course, its main challenges and the influences of the agrarian tradition of the Institution. In chapter IV the focus will be on the Graduate Program in Agricultural Education, the importance of this Program for UFRRJ, the curriculum of the Course, its main challenges and the influence of agrarian tradition. Chapters III and IV are still under construction.
