SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze the process of struggle for a "differentiated education" in the Santa Rita do Bracuí quilombola community, in order to understand how the construction of the Quilombola Municipal School, within the Bracuí territory, can contribute to the struggle for land titling. as well as the strengthening of quilombola identity both for children who will be cared for in the school, as to the general community. In order to achieve the overall goal, delimited as specific objectives: a) to understand how the proposed construction of the Municipal Quilombola School can contribute in strengthening the identity of the area; b) demonstrate how the quilombo leaders relate to formal education, and what educational prospects they have for their children and youth; c) identify the actors involved and describe the actions of those who struggle with the community the right to education. This research aims to report the process of struggle of the community of Quilombo Santa Rita do Bracuí and to portray what the community has faced and has faced so that children and young people have access to a differentiated and quality education. Highlighting the prospects that the community leaders present on a school education that values the knowledge, cultures and traditions by entering them in the school curriculum, thinking of it as a tool of struggle in defense of their territory. With the title: The Birth of a Dream: between struggles and knowledge, it is a qualitative research, made from a case study, presenting as methodology the literature review, and the resolution of what was learned during the fieldwork of the search.
