SUMMARY:

This doctoral research is in the qualification stage and was developed from the implementation of the Continuing Education of Teachers course in Gender and Sexualities, which was made possible by the Extension School. This school is linked to the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), and its target audience was professors who are working in the socio-educational units of deprivation of liberty of the General Department of Socio-educational Actions (DEGASE), as well as professors from the Center for Social-Educational Service for Adolescents (Fundação CASA). These institutions are responsible for assisting teenagers who are perpetrators of infractions, who are in compliance with a socio-educational measure, under internment in the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The inspiration for the research was born from the demand presented for training on the guiding themes of the course in male and female units by the participants of two previous empirical researches. However, it was restructured due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the virtual environment with the support of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT's). This work is based on the foundation of theorists of Gender Studies and poststructuralist Cultural Studies. It had as a fruitful objective to deepen the understanding of teachers on the themes from the perspective of training that would meet the consolidation of education as a Human Right with inclusive pedagogical practices. This is a qualitative and digital ethnographic investigation in education. The methodological approach was developed remotely from the interactions that took place during synchronous and asynchronous activities, 5 conversation circles and 5 debate forums, respectively. It had the participation of 37 teachers who posted messages on digital platforms and their speeches resulted in data that supported the research results. Among the importance of the study, we highlight the possible contributions to the instrumentalization of the pedagogical practice of teachers within socio-educational units after the training offered. As preliminary considerations, the study pointed to the need to promote training on issues related to gender and sexualities for other professionals who work in the units deprived of freedom in socio-education.
