SUMMARY:

This research theme, “Orí Inú and the Individuation Process in Carl Gustav Jung: The Sacred Life of a ‘Terreiro’ or Classroom Education”, arises from my experience as a teacher working with Law 10.639/03 in basic education, elementary school I, in the municipal public network of the city of Rio de Janeiro and as a candomblecist who experiences the daily life of the “terreiro” as an eternal apprentice. What we intend with this study is to bring the contributions and knowledge of African peoples, with regard to the integral formation of the Human Being, with the intention of valuing knowledge of our black African ancestry. In this context, the contributions of the African diaspora in Brazil gain focus in research and, to help studies, in an interdisciplinary way, the work of the Swiss psychiatrist and psychologist, Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961), will be the central support for us to establish a dialogue between health and Afro-Brazilian education that is present from north to south of Brazil. However, the present study will be limited to the state of Rio de Janeiro. To conduct the dialogue, we chose not only the teaching practices, narratives and experiences that work in elementary school I in public schools in RJ, as well as the narratives of spiritual leaders, leaders of “terreiros” who experience the philosophy and knowledge of the Yoruba peoples. The core of the question that drives the research is the question that arises when, through experience and observation of school practices, it is perceived that there is an overlap of cultures and knowledge, where the European culture still prevails over the others. Faced with this scenario of absences and silencing of non-white cultures, this work seeks to bring elements to encourage reflection on the integral formation of the human being and on the knowledge that the child, in the first years of schooling, has contact during his formation within from the public school. Such knowledge and experiences lived by the young students will be constitutive parts of this being that is in formation, directly influencing the way in which this child sees himself, puts himself in the world and at the same time sees the other.
