The use of psychoactive substances is intertwined in human history, with each society used to establish standards for their use. However, chemical dependency emerges as a contemporary phenomenon, resulting in stigmatization and social exclusion. This study seeks to understand, through the analysis of social representations, how these processes influence society's perception of chemical dependency and its impact on affected individuals. Additionally, we explore the issue of the gap in training professionals capable of dealing with this issue, as well as the distorted view of mental health and society. This work aims to fill this gap by offering innovative approaches to enhance professional training and therapeutics in this crucial field.
