SUMMARY:

The creation of the National Social Assistance Policy (PNAS) in 2004 represented a materialization of the guidelines of the Organic Law of Social Assistance (LOAS), a significant milestone in the way the Federative Republic of Brazil addresses the issues of social problems that are the responsibility of the Public Policy of Social Assistance. This document outlined clear guidelines for implementing a social protection and promotion network for individuals most in need, regardless of prior contributions to Social Security. This scenario led to changes in the organization of social protection services at different levels of complexity (basic and special social protection) that required the inclusion of psychologists in teams as strategies to minimize the social and health harm to users, which is a result of social vulnerabilities. In Social Assistance, specifically in the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS), these professionals face both challenges and significant possibilities in their psychosocial actions and interventions. This research aims to understand the actions of psychologists at CRAS and to analyze the possible benefits of a brief psychosocial intervention with users, through two studies: the first is a Systematic Integrative Literature Review, and the second is a brief psychosocial intervention with users (children) of CRAS, in the Municipality of Itaguaí. In the first part, the Integrative Systematic Review research was carried out through a search for scientific articles published in national journals, indexed in the electronic platforms SciElo, Pepsic, Google Scholar and BVS Saúde using the descriptors “Psychologist” “CRAS” and “Psychosocial Intervention”, in the Portuguese language, published in the period from 2018 to 2023, in which the titles and abstracts were read, resulting in 32 articles. After reading the full texts, 15 articles were excluded because they met the exclusion criteria, such as dissertations, theses, books, monographs and course conclusion papers. Two duplicate articles were then found in the databases, and at the end of the selection process, 14 articles comprised this review. The results showed a low number of studies published in the five years period (2018 to 2023), referring to the actions of Psychologists in the context of Social Assistance, specifically in CRAS. There was a prevalence of studies that presented and suggested psychosocial interventions by psychologists to the detriment of research that effectively carried out psychosocial interventions by psychologists in working with CRAS users. It can be concluded from this first study that there is a need to stimulate the interest of psychologists and social researchers in studying and problematizing the actions/interventions of psychologists in the context of CRAS in an empirical way.
