SUMMARY:

The impact of social transformations on organizations has been widely discussed by researchers and managers, when explaining the context of rapid changes and structural uncertainty that characterizes the market today. Paiva, Aragão and Pereira (2005) emphasize that such transformations also affect ordinary citizens in various aspects of their lives, in addition to imposing on organizations the need to seek new forms of production and management in order to better deal with the economic, social and technological demands that arise. And all this in an environment of high competition and little predictability.
The set of uncertainties and rapid changes that characterize the context in which organizations operate led Whiteman (1998) to coin the acronym VUCA, referring to a world that is characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. This set of factors leads organizations to seek constant change, aiming to always be competitive in a very demanding environment, both for organizations as a whole and for their workforce.
It is in this sense that this study seeks to contribute to new strategies for people management, especially with regard to the inclusion of psychological variables and the investigation of their predictive role in health and quality of life at work, particularly in the context of the Boa Vista City Hall (PMBV), in the state of Roraima. The variables considered in the study will be mindfulness, self-esteem, life satisfaction, job satisfaction and perceived general self-efficacy. This study is being considered as part of a strategic action aimed at surveying psychological variables that will allow us to understand the current state of mental health of SMST employees, that is, municipal civil guards and traffic agents in Boa Vista, in order to then propose actions to promote mental health and assist SMST management in making decisions regarding professional development and the quality of life of its employees. The use of knowledge management assumptions is based on the concept that knowledge does not occur by itself. It does not arise naturally and voluntarily. It needs to be managed. In this sense, it is considered crucial to combine research with decision-making. The central idea of this study is not that “research is not a cost, it is an investment, as has been seen in popular wisdom, but rather that “research is not an investment, it is an economy”, a concept that we now defend. Thus, research and knowledge management are considered essential tools for decision-making.
