SUMMARY:

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive literature review on the impacts and effects of
the motherhood device on mothers in contexts of vulnerability. Frequently characterized by
the absence of paternal involvement, this condition imposes significant challenges, including
emotional overload, financial hardship, social stigma, and adverse effects on mental health.
These issues are further exacerbated when examined through a racial lens, particularly in
light of the enduring legacy of slavery that contributes to the systemic dehumanization of
Black motherhood. In this regard, the study underscores the urgent need for strengthened
social support networks and the implementation of effective public policies to mitigate the
multifaceted vulnerabilities. Finally, it is essential to highlight the resistance of Black
mothers who, even in the face of grief and social exclusion, transform their pain into political
mobilization and a persistent struggle for recognition and justice.
