SUMMARY:

Adolescence is a critical period for the development of cognitive, emotional, and social skills, with executive functions (EF) and personality being two fundamental constructs in this process. In Brazil, the scarcity of adapted and validated instruments for assessing these constructs in adolescents limits the accuracy of psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. This project aims to conduct the cross-cultural adaptation of two instruments for adolescent populations: the Teenage Executive Functioning Inventory (TEXI) and the Big Five Personality Trait Short Questionnaire (BFPTSQ), as well as to perform a systematic review of the relationships between personality and EF. The project will be divided into three stages: (1) a systematic review of the relationships between personality and EF, following PRISMA guidelines, to synthesize existing literature on the topic; (2) cross-cultural adaptation of the TEXI, in accordance with the International Test Commission (ITC) guidelines; and (3) adaptation of the BFPTSQ, focusing on the Big Five personality traits. Both adaptations will include translation, evaluation by expert judges, back-translation, and a pilot study to verify item clarity and appropriateness. This project is innovative, as no prior studies have adapted these instruments for Brazilian adolescents or systematically explored the relationships between these constructs. The results are expected to provide culturally appropriate tools for future psychological assessments of adolescents, as well as contribute to more contextualized interventions, significantly advancing the field of psychological and neuropsychological assessment in Brazil.
