RESUMO:

The theme of this work is the inclusion of university students with intellectual disabilities, especially those with Down Syndrome in Higher Education Institutions (IES). Inclusion is the fundamental right of anyone at all levels of education. Advances in education and achievement of inclusion rights still create many challenges and require a better understanding of the process, not only in terms of entry but also the permanence and promotion of learning, especially of people with intellectual disabilities. Through a descriptive, qualitative research with the analysis of the narratives of the students with Down Syndrome, about the learning and the pedagogical strategies experienced in their Institutions of Higher Education - IES, the general objective is to examine the academic life characterized by the educational inclusion of the with Down Syndrome from the perception of self and the environment. The specific objectives are: a) to investigate in the literature the state of the art of this theme, b) to categorize the positive and negative factors that interfere in the academic life from the narrative of the university and the observation of the researcher, c) to identify the challenges and how they are faced by the university through its narrative and the observation of the researcher, d) infer about possible educational implications for compliance with the legislation. The triangulation of methods in data collection will be used: semi-directed interview with university students, and with relatives and professionals when appropriate, interviewer's field report, objects of support to the self-portrait, such as photos, mental maps, notebooks university students, etc. The interviews with the university students will be of approximately 1 hour, with prediction of three meetings, being able to be extended. Only an interview with relatives and professionals is foreseen, if necessary. The field report is written throughout the development of the research with the impressions of the researcher in its objective and subjective aspects. The data will be categorized according to the axes: a) the state of the art of the educational inclusion of higher education; b) positive and negative factors in inclusion in Higher Education; c) educational challenges; d) inclusive educational implications.
