RESUMO:

This research is about subjective well-being in people deprived of freedom in a public prison located in the Gericino, complex in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Our initial proposal has the following objectives: to investigate happiness in people deprived of freedom; check their experience positive emotions; to find out if there is any kind of enjoyable activity that people in prison do or get involved to the point of losing track of time. We highlight a certain contradiction about subjective well-being think/ happiness in a place historically marked by suffering. Therefore, we intend to change the focus of the gaze impregnated on the pathologies and psychic sufferings, turning back to the understanding of the elements of welfare according to Positive Psychology. The methodology used will be qualitative. The empirical material will be a questionnaire with open questions. The data collected in the questionnaires, answered by the participants, will be analyzed with the support of Bardin‘s content analysis method; having as a theoretical reference positive psychology.
