The research goal is to investigate mental health care in primary care in a small city in the state of Rio de Janeiro, based on the normative guidelines of public policy for the area. The methodology will consist of a descriptive study, with a quantitative and qualitative approach in data analysis, from document analysis of the medical records of patients with mental disorders in the field of basic health units and an integrative review. It is expected that the results can contribute to the debates on mental disorders in the field of Primary Care and Mental Health in the care of patients in psychological distress.
