SUMMARY:

This project aims to analyze the trajectory of young cis gay men raised by evangelical Christian families in the territory of Baixada Fluminense (BF), on the outskirts of the State of Rio de Janeiro. The time frame of the research encompasses the 1990s, the year in which homosexuality is no longer classified as a disease by the World Health Organization (WHO) until 2020. In theoretical terms, Carl Rogers' Humanistic concept of "self-constitution" will be taken into consideration from an unconditional positive perspective, and will understand self-care as “attitudes of maintenance and preservation of one's own life”, understanding that the condition of freedom of the self is indispensable in this case. Self-care is a “philosophical exercise”, it is the ethical-moral care of oneself, oriented towards a stylization of life, an aesthetics of existence, towards the arts of existence (FILHO, 2007). As bibliographic references, books and publications of the Federal Council of Psychology relevant to the theme will be used, as well as theses, dissertations, and articles found on virtual platforms such as CAPES and Scielo. The methodology used, in addition to the bibliographic review, will be the qualitative of life stories, whose data collection technique is based on the oral narratives of the interviewees, with open interviews, from their own life perspectives, from their own optics. In addition to the individuality of the interviewees, this method aims to know the group dimension of the life of the researched population, which will consist of four young, cisgender, gay men raised by at least one family member with an evangelical religion.
