THE IMPACT OF INTERVENTION WITH THERAPY FOCUSED ON EMOTIONS FROM A TRANSDIAGNOSTIC PERSPECTIVEemotion-focused therapy; psychotherapy; emotions; evidence-based practice; transdiagnostic approach
Diagnostic classifications of mental disorders have been questioned due to factors such as low precision, high symptom overlap, and clinicians' difficulty in using specific protocols for each distinct clinical condition. The idea of proposing transdiagnostic treatments as an alternative to these difficulties has been gaining traction over the past two decades. Despite being an evidence-based approach, Emotion-Focused therapy is not well-known among Brazilians and is also a transdiagnostic approach since the early 1980s, with emotion as the central element of its interventions. Up to the present moment, there are no studies with Emotion-Focused Therapy with the Brazilian population. The aim of this project is to evaluate the impact of Emotion-Focused Therapy interventions in a convenience sample of Brazilians. An analysis of the results of the intervention with Emotion-Focused Therapy will be carried out based on the EFT Brazil: I database. This is a study with 60 Brazilian patients, approved by an ethics committee and conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Emotion-Focused Therapy with certified therapists that were trained in the approach.
