SUBÁREA: Tratamento e Prevenção Psicológica
SPECIALTY: Desvios da Conduta
SUMMARY:

The interest in research arises from questions about how to welcome “different” in the educational environment as opposed to standardized models of school pedagogical experience. The psi diagnosis arises in this context to justify non-learning behaviors as a consequence of a mental disorder, generating implications that strengthen the medicalization of life in the school context. Sometimes, we try to explain school failure through the pathologization or biologization of behavior. This means, first, moving a social problem onto the student’s body (Moysés and Collares, 2007); second, standardize behavior through medical/pharmacological intervention (Moysés and Collares, 2013).  What would be the relationships and meanings woven around the psychiatric diagnosis with regard to the actions and conceptions of the pedagogical team regarding the student in everyday school life? The idea of the research is, if it does not answer this question, to promote reflection on the meanings that the psychiatric report produces in the school reality, notably in elementary schools. The main objective is to identify the relationships and meanings woven around the medical/psychological diagnosis in everyday school life, notably its effects on the actions and conceptions of the pedagogical team regarding the diagnosed student. It is a social and qualitative research, which will use bibliographic and field review methods, through semi-structured interviews. The methodology in question values the conception of the actors in action in the field, privileging their direct opinion. The aim is to intersect the results of data collection analyses, teacher practice and school dynamics. We expect to find a field strongly impacted by medicalizing concepts, but with agents (teachers) who somehow seek, through specific practices, to circumvent this process that erases the student's subjectivity.
