Ilerá: health in Candomblé Ketu and Jung's complex psychology.
health, candomblé, complex psychology, Afro-Brazilian subjectivity.
Candomblé is an Afro-Brazilian religion with a considerable number of followers and an intimate influence on Brazilian culture. Still, little is appreciated about the effects of this religiosity in relation to the production of psychosocial health of its practitioners. Considering that both the perspective of Carl Gustav Jung's Complex Psychology and the experience of Candomblé recognize the importance of the harmony of different aspects in a subject's life for their integral health, the present research aims to identify the similarities between these two perspectives ― Complex Psychology and Candomblé Ketu ― to promote a better understanding of Ilerá (health). For this purpose, a specific bibliographical review will be carried out on the topic, in dialogue with an exploratory study of participant observation in a religious temple of Candomblé Ketu, located in the city of Guapimirim - RJ. In this way, this research hopes to contribute to a deeper understanding of the religious practices of Candomblé, shaped by the African diaspora in Brazil, united with sacred integration between humans and nature. And, consequently, contributes to reducing the prejudice that such practices still face.
