SUMMARY:

This dissertation aimed to analyze the consumption of psychoactive substances (PAS) at university parties in the municipality of Seropédica/RJ, focusing on students from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), and to develop Harm Reduction (HR) strategies through an educational intervention. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used, including testing urine samples collected in party bathrooms, administering an electronic questionnaire (n=45), and holding a roundtable discussion entitled “Coffee with DR.” The data pointed to the recurring presence of PAS such as alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, MDMA, hallucinogens, and stimulants, with alcohol being the most consumed substance. The profile of recreational users revealed young adults, mostly low-income, with patterns of use that were not necessarily problematic. The educational intervention provided a powerful space for listening, care, and collective construction of knowledge about RD, culminating in a proposal to form a university collective focused on the theme. It was concluded that SPA consumption is part of the university context and that strategies based on the logic of RD, as opposed to repression and moralism, are more effective in promoting health, autonomy, and citizenship among students. The research also contributes to the formulation of public policies and interventions that are sensitive to the realities of young people and universities.
