SUMMARY:
This project seeks to investigate the potential and limitations of the care models offered by Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and Drugs (CAPS AD) and Therapeutic Communities (CTs), from the perspective of the users of these services and in light of possible intersections with contemporary neuroscientific perspectives. Care for people with problematic use of alcohol and other drugs has long been a challenge in Brazilian public health, often marked by prohibitionist and moralizing practices that echo the logic of asylums. Despite the relevance of the topic, there are still few studies that center the voices of service users regarding their care experiences at CAPS AD and CTs. Thus, this study aims to fill this gap and provide input for public policies aligned with Psychiatric Reform. To this end, a qualitative study will be conducted, consisting of semi-structured interviews and the administration of the SATIS-BR scale. The interviews will be conducted with current users of the CAPS AD in the city of Pindamonhangaba. Content analysis of the collected data will be performed, using IRAMUTEQ software to assist in this stage. The results are expected to contribute to the improvement of care practices and to the contemporary debate on drug policies in Brazil.
