Military firefighters are constantly exposed to adverse situations in different contexts,

 including fires, floods, car accidents, among others. Leading these professionals to charge 

for effective results in their actions and constant pressures due to these peculiarities. 

Among these stressors we have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as one of the most common

 pathologies due precisely to this association between extreme situations and required performance, 

being the same a psychic disturbance that arises from the situations experienced or witnessed by these

 individuals. This research aims to study the presence of symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder and 

memory alterations in military firefighters of the State of Rio de Janeiro. A cross-sectional study will

 be conducted from a quantitative analysis, which will be applied 300 questionnaires, scales and

 tests on active firefighters present in the barracks of Costa Verde and the metropolitan region (Penha). 

Participants will be submitted on an optional basis to answer sociodemographic data information through

 a General Data questionnaire, as well as questions about the characteristics and contextualization of

 traumatic experiences through the PCL-5 and memory evaluation through psychological tests. 

The data obtained will be analyzed using the SPSS program.
