Psychoeducational practices in primary care; contributions of the psychologist to health education
Psychoeducational interventions, Primary Health Care, Psychologists.
The research proposes the investigation, in a descriptive way, of the psychoeducational approaches in Primary Health Care. The main objective is to identify contexts and ways of using strategies of psychoeducational intervention in the daily work of psychologists working in the public health system in order to stimulate actions of prevention and treatment of health problems. In addition, one tries to verify the perceptions of these professionals about the possibilities and relevance of psychoeducation as a strategy of working at the primary level of attention and about the training itself for psychoeducational work, considering their experiences and learning since their graduation. During the data collection, an electronic questionnaire will be applied to obtain answers from about thirty psychologists who work in the basic care of different municipalities in the southern region of Rio de Janeiro, which contains questions about professional training and performance, as well as other related questions to the use of psychoeducation, individually or in groups, including, for example, frequency, purposes, target population, strategies and resources employed. In addition, a semi-structured interview with five of these professionals will be carried out to deepen responses and qualitative analyzes, which will be done through a roadmap composed of three thematic axes: knowledge about health education and psychoeducation; use of psychoeducation in professional practice; professional qualification for the use of psychoeducation. The data of the questionnaire will be submitted to descriptive statistical analysis, while those coming from the interviews will be categorized according to psychoeducation analysis in the scenario of primary health care and the barriers found in this process, as well as to know the participants' perceptions about the potentialities of the use of psychoeducation and of the professional qualification itself. The expectation is to increase the knowledge about the possibilities and benefits of psychoeducation and, in this way, to point out relevant aspects for its strengthening. One of the contributions of the research is the possibility of highlighting work strategies of the psychologist in the health team, with the potential to strengthen self-care in primary care contexts, individually or in groups, including review of beliefs about health problems and acquisition of preventive measures.
