SUMMARY:

Insertion of psychologists in multi professional teams that are responsible for treatment care in the hospital environment, have grown over the decades. Although less frequently, dealing with surgical patients is one of the possibilities of this professional performance, with potential to contribute to a more efficient management of different emotions and behaviors reactions that are often observed in the surgical center routine, mostly by nursing professionals, that deal directly with this medical care. Based on this situation, it is worth asking what are the main requests and needs related to psychosocial issues of these patients and what kind of technical support nurses and nurses technicians consider as important to receive from psychologists to deal with this kind of situation. The target of this paper is to investigate, by the nurses professionals perception, what psychosocials points surgical patients show and how arising demands can be an intervention focus to multi professional team, mostly psychological. The research, that is descriptive and has quantitative and qualitative nature, proposes the application of a self-managed online questionnaire to about 50 nurses and nursing technicians linked to a private hospital in Volta Redonda, city located at Rio de Janeiro State. For the closed questions of the instrument, it is intended to use descriptive statistical analyzes, while the open questions will be categorized and analyzed according to Bardin's Content Analysis. The research results can improve understanding and systematization of the psychologist's performance in this sector of the hospital, both in terms of direct intervention with the patients assisted and the technical support to the multiprofessional teams. So, it is expected to collaborate for an increasingly comprehensive and humanized care for patients who need surgical procedures.
