SUMMARY:

Youth is the time when intimate and affective relationships are most intensely triggered. Thus, gender issues and social roles are often activated and associated with behavioral models in affective relationships. In this context, the place of men and women suffers several crossings of values and principles agreed upon in culture. The university, despite being a locus of constant expansion of knowledge and exchange, is also a place of expression, and often of the beginning or continuation of affectionately directed interpersonal relationships. In this sense, the research will focus on abusive relationships, identifying that it is a historical phenomenon, socially constructed and transformed, which involves a repertoire of issues that permeate the social construction of gender, affective relationship and gender violence. It is intended, through the Theory of Social Representations (TRS), proposed by social psychologist Serge Moscovici (1978) and collaborators, which allows to grasp cognitive aspects, beliefs, values, opinions, in the form of knowledge that is elaborated and shared by members. Therefore, it is part of a belonging group to investigate the possible existence of social representations about abusive relationships in heterosexual-oriented young university students that configure the general objective of the study.
