Therapeutic Itinerary and possibilities of care for children with autism during the Covid-19 pandemic: the perspective of family membersTherapeutic Itinerary, autism, covid-19The so-called Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a phenomenon that causes dissonances between health professionals and family members of children and adolescents, especially with regard to the definition of the diagnosis and the possibilities of treatment. The late inclusion of Mental Health for Children and Adolescents (SMCA) in the Brazilian public health agenda caused gaps in the care of this public in the Unified Health System (SUS). After the elaboration of the SMCA policy, care for children with autism begins to be carried out in the Psychosocial Care Centers for Children and Adolescents (CAPSi), under the framework of integrality and the principles of psychosocial care. However, a significant number of activist parents are at odds with these principles and demand “specialized care”. In addition to the controversies surrounding treatment, the current pandemic scenario in Covid-19 has caused changes in the social dynamics and functioning of mental health services, probably affecting the possibilities of caring for children with autism and influencing their therapeutic itineraries. Therapeutic itinerary is understood as the complex process of seeking treatment and the paths taken in care, which involve the unique characteristics of illness, family dynamics, the provision of health services and the socio-cultural context in which the subject is inserted, influencing access and permanence in health services. This work has the general objective of investigating the therapeutic itinerary of children with autism, from the perspective of their families and / or main caregivers, during the Covid-19 pandemic. For that, a qualitative research of exploratory character will be carried out, being used as a data collection procedure the semi-structured interview. Based on the analysis of the interviews, narratives about the challenges and care strategies developed during the pandemic will be constructed, considering the professional, personal and lay resources used by family members during this period and tracing the course of the therapeutic itineraries of the children and their caregivers.
