Psychoanalysis and Education: is there a place for the clinical dimension in school?
Psychoanalysis. Education. Critical Psychology. Clinical. Construction of the clinical case.
From the 1980's on, an important critical movement began in the field originating from the border between Psychology and Education. Insofar as Critical Psychology focuses its criticism on the clinical model of attending to school complaints, the present research aimed to make a brief history of the birth of the clinic. With this, it was hypothesized that, if initially it was thought that learning difficulties led to the entry of Medicine into the school, in fact, the injunction of medicine with education is more archaic and goes back to the beginning of the psychiatric clinic, when Medicine became interested in children with mental retardation and the idea that education could rehabilitate them. The hypothesis is that there is a continuity in the medical-pedagogical model, and that medicalization is not a strictly contemporary phenomenon. The present research is woven from an attempt to refound this debate, that is, to discuss a clinic that does not reproduce the pathologizing logic. The school institutional work operated from Psychoanalysis reveals how the clinical dimension, rightfully criticized by some references of Brazilian School Psychology, can open possibilities for the emergence of the subject and its singularity, conditioning a historicization process that can be collectivized a posteriori in the institution. To this end, the construction of the clinical case as a working methodology reveals itself as a powerful device. The methodology will consist of a bibliographic survey on the theme, in addition to the use of the clinical case as evidence, insofar as it allows generalizations, lending itself to the reading of other cases.
