SUMMARY:

Information War is a contemporary phenomenon resulting from profound changes in the use of technological resources in post-modernity. It is an exclusively human activity, which seeks the manipulation of the masses through psychology – individual and/or collective – to generate collective possession, which provokes an attitude favourable to the manipulator's strategic interests. In the light of Carl Gustav Jung's theoretical and practical epistemological field of Complex Psychology, in an interdisciplinary dialogue with art, religion, philosophy and science, this thesis seeks to clarify the psychic mechanisms involved in this obscure interaction: manipulation-alienation. The methodology, based on the Jungian paradigm, highlights the contributions made by authors who seek alternatives to overcome limitations of the scientific paradigm of modernity and, thus, ratify the vanguard of the interdisciplinary thought of Carl Gustav Jung. In the passage from modernity to post-modernity, conditions were favourable for the advent of information war. And, only by an individual or collective initiative, including the States, it is possible to adopt an effective attitude in order to psychically protect a nation from the nefarious manipulation that alienates individuals and the mass.
