SUMMARY:

Caring for a person with dementia can impact the health of the family caregiver, increasing levels of stress, overload and symptoms of depression and anxiety. In this regard, the present study aims to evaluate the effects of a multicomponent intervention based on Mindfulness, to be carried out in a group and online way, with caregivers of people diagnosed with dementia, establishing as variables of interest psychological well-being, including the purpose of life dimension, stress and emotional state. This is an experimental research, with intervention and control groups and pre- and post-test evaluations. Participants will answer the following instruments before the beginning and after the end of eight previously planned sessions: Questionnaire of contextualization of care, Scale of psychological well-being (EBEP), Inventory of stress symptoms for adults by Lipp - revised (ISSL-R ), Hospital Depression and Anxiety Scale (HADS). They will also respond only prior to the eight sessions to the caregiver's characterization questionnaire, and only after to the final evaluation questionnaire. Intragroup and intergroup differences will be analyzed, using nonparametric tests and additional qualitative analyses. Thus, the intention is to discuss the potential benefits that an intervention proposal of this nature can offer to improve the health and quality of life of this population, both in terms of minimizing symptoms and promoting well-being.
