Public Sports Policies in Baixada Fluminense: A Study of Social RepresentationsSocial representations; sports; social psychology
This study seeks to investigate the Social Representations of Sport (SRS) in Baixada Fluminense, considering its relation with the implemented public policies on sports and leisure in the region. The research is based on understanding Sport as an influential social phenomenon, especially in areas like health, well-being, and community development. Baixada Fluminense, due to its dense population and socio-economic challenges, emerges as a relevant context for this analysis. The investigation will be conducted in two distinct studies. The first, addressing the SRS among public authorities and third-sector leaders, aims to understand how these actors perceive sports and what their expectations are regarding the implemented public policies. The methodology includes semi-structured interviews, content analysis, and data triangulation, ensuring the reliability and depth of the conclusions. The second study focuses on the SRS for beneficiaries of public policies on sports and leisure in the region. Through a questionnaire and a free evocation task, the aim is to understand the perceptions and meanings attributed to Sport and its representational structure. The analysis of textual data will allow identifying the main cognemes associated with SRS in Baixada Fluminense. Specific objectives include relating the main implemented sports public policies in the region with the SRS identified in the study, pinpointing possible differences between the perceptions of the actors responsible for the actions and those of their beneficiaries. As a conclusion of the study, it is expected to identify possible gaps and opportunities for improvement, providing relevant subsidies in the planning and implementation of increasingly efficient social public policies on sports in Baixada Fluminense.
