SUMMARY:

Medicine is a recognized area of activity with close association with human relations. As graduation progresses, a drop in the acquisition of curricular components related to empathy and welcoming is noticed, which results in a loss in the provision of complete and humanized care. In order to build a medical practice that goes beyond the Biomedical Model and that overcomes such losses in care, Medical Humanities emerge as a set of disciplines that aim to build a critical and reflective capacity regarding reality, care and understanding of the human being beyond the phenomena considered natural. This research was designed based on the challenge of creating a practical environment for the discipline of Medical Humanities 5, obligatorily offered in the fifth period of medical graduation, which took place at the Basic Health Unit of Maria Ortiz, in the municipality of Vitória, in Espírito Santo and aimed at developing listening, bonding and observation skills. We aim to understand, through the Cartography Method, the contributions of the “Psychological emergency attendance” device in groups, to medical training and the effects on patients treated, through the analysis of Logbooks produced by the researcher and students during the Psychological emergency attendance offering. The services were carried out between October 2022 and November 2023 by the researcher-teacher, together with a group of up to 4 students, and offered individually to residents of the Maria Ortiz neighborhood. We hope with this study to understand the experience of medical students working on the Psychological Duty device, clinical management during care and the contributions made possible to medical training and patients.
