SUMMARY:

Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent type of cancer in women, with a high number of cases and deaths. Aiming to reduce these numbers, coping strategies are used, such as screening and early diagnosis. However, the scenario in Brazil is not favorable and patients still face challenges in undergoing screening tests and starting treatment when diagnosed with the disease. Furthermore, when initiated, the adherence rate to treatment is below ideal, especially Adjuvant Endocrine Therapy (TEA), so that several predictors are involved, such as psychosocial factors. As it is a disease that influences the entire context of a woman's life, interventions that aim to improve treatment adherence rates or the psychosocial factors involved need to be considered so that this problem can be addressed. Psychosocial Interventions (PI) have shown promise in different contexts. Therefore, this work was divided into three chapters. Chapter I aims to define concepts about CM for a better later understanding of the work, in addition to portraying the scenario of screening, early diagnosis and treatment of CM in Brazil. Chapter II is a comprehensive scoping review that aimed to define the psychosocial factors involved in the process of adherence and/or persistence of ASD, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Finally, chapter III is a systematic review of randomized clinical trials, which summarized the PIs available in the literature to improve adherence to ASD as well as the psychosocial factors described in chapter II.
