DEVELOPMENT OF ECOLOGICAL TASKS TO ASSESS PLANNING IN ADULTS
executive functions; functional status; activities of daily living
Planning is a complex executive function essential for organizing actions, anticipating consequences, and making decisions. In adults, deficits in this skill compromise autonomy and social participation and may be associated with neurological, cognitive, or age-related conditions. However, classical neuropsychological assessment instruments still show low ecological validity, reflecting everyday demands only to a limited extent. This project aims to develop three ecological tasks focused on planning in adults, based on scientific literature and the framework of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). The study will be conducted in two stages: Stage I – Theoretical and methodological definition – Integrative literature review (article); and Stage II – a. Development of the tasks (preliminary version), b. Expert analysis, c. Pilot study. The results are expected to contribute to more sensitive assessment practices that better reflect real-life demands, promoting greater functional autonomy in adults.
