SUMMARY:

This study sets off from the concreteness of the social experience in the territory of underprivileged urban areas in the city of Rio de Janeiro to understand the transformations in the lives of teenagers and young adults involved in social struggles. We took as a starting point the current scenario of intensification of the structural crisis of capital and the dismantling of social rights in the lower income population, in order to understand the effects of these factors on the experience of youth in a context of exclusion. In this sense, based on the theoretical conjectures of psychology for the characterization of the youth, we seek to assess the changes that the social movement can cause in the youth's life experience, at a personal level, in the perception of prospects and expectations of the future, in the vision of themselves and of the present reality around them. We propose to investigate what influences the youth to get involved in the social struggles of the Levante Popular da Juventude, along with the militants who integrated the organization through the popular education initiative in the Cerro Corá favela. It is a qualitative and exploratory research. The participants will be youth from the social movement Levante Popular da Juventude from the Cerro Corá territorial front, and the instrument used will be the open questionnaire. The responses will be categorized based on Bardin's content analysis and all ethical principles of research with human beings will be respected.
