The Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) was implemented in Brazil in 2011 with the proposal of integrating and articulating devices that offer mental health care. Among these devices are the Psychosocial Care Centers for users of alcohol and other drugs (Caps Ad) and the Therapeutic Communities (TCs). Both services are aimed at the same public, but have very different treatment perspectives. While Caps ad act according to the psychosocial, community and subject-focused model, Therapeutic Communities act from an institutionalizing logic centered on the disease. Even in disagreement with the policy of attention to alcohol and drug users and with the mental health policy, therapeutic communities have remained in the network until the present day and have successive increases in their funding to the detriment of transfers to community devices, reason for which there have been intense debates in the field. Even so, there is an aspect that has been little discussed: it is the effective articulation between Caps Ad and TCs. Most of the available studies compare the care models that support them, but do not deal with the aforementioned articulation, which constitutes a pillar of RAPS. Therefore, the question that arises is: does this articulation exist? How does it happen? What does it produce? For this, this work proposes to go into the field in the city of Paracambi to conduct semi-structured interviews and application of questionnaires to employees and managers of Caps Ad and therapeutic communities in the city, and analyze the data using a quali-quantitative methodology. We believe in the relevance of this work because it is an important discussion at a time of great setback in mental health policy in Brazil and that it has the potential to reveal the real possibility of articulation between these two services.
