SUMMARY:

There are many ways of action for a psychological professional into hospitals departments. These actions should suit to different characteristics of each section and be adequate to hospitals’ daily needs. In this perspective, it is worth questioning if the Psychologic Interconsultation is able to constitute a strategic and useful tool to validate the work of psychologists in multiprofessional teams of health assistance beyond the traditional clinic activities realized by these professionals in hospital care. This research project intends to present the development of a Psychology Service at a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro based on the theory and technicity of the Interconsultation. The aim of this project to describe the Psychological Interconsultation process and results considering it’s effect on the routine clinical practice and interprofessional relationships. The study design used was Case Study, considering predominantly qualitative and descriptive, having the Psychology Service as the unity of central analysis, with emphasis in the actuation of psychologists at the infirmary of the referred hospital. Based on the proposed objectives, the techniques chosen for the data collected were the semi structured interview with psychologists and other hospital professionals that work or used to work at the institution, as well as the analysis of official related documents. The main interest of this research was to attribute the meaning of the issues experienced by members of the multidisciplinary hospital team, residents and former medical residents and former interns in this joint from the Psychological Service with other hospital departments through Psychological Interconsultation. The results of this research should broaden the knowledge of guiding aspects of the effective use in this kind of activity in daily hospital care - Be it general or no t- and enlighten its implications for the generation of hospital psychologists.
