SUMMARY:

The objective of the research is based on investigating the daily work of Occupational Safety Technicians (TST) based on their perception of possible harmful influences of work activity on mental health. Such a proposal is relevant in view of the few scientific investigation works evidenced in Brazil that sought to address psychological factors involving the direct practice of TST. Therefore, it is envisaged to know a little about the perception of this professional class that presents its importance in the proposition of health promotion and prevention of work accidents, in public and private companies in the country. Therefore, the basic theme of the research aims to explore the following aspects: (i) the field of Occupational Health and Safety in Brazil, through the investigation of perceptions of TST in relation to daily professional practice, aiming at a possible understanding, the from data guided by objective and subjective variables, obstacles to the performance of activities and strategies for coping with and carrying out these same activities; (ii) psychosocial risks and harmful aspects of the TST's mental health; (iii) the place of subjectivity in the man-work interface and discussions involving the relevance of intangible aspects in the scenario of organizations. Regarding the method, a quantitative-qualitive research with a descriptive design was chosen, based on two studies. In study 1, for the quantitative analysis, a questionnaire has been developed, to be formatted in google forms, aiming at the reach of TST in different regions of the country. In study 2, semi-structured interviews will be applied, in a TST sample, to explore more in-depth information regarding the participants' perception. For the analysis of this information, the method of Emancipatory Dialogical Narrative Analysis (ANDE) will be used. Regarding the literature review, this has been carried out based on the structuring of three topics: (a) origin, development and contemporaneity of occupational health and safety in Brazil; (b) subjectivity in the man-work interface; and (c) mental health and subjectivity at work.
