This research aims to contribute to the construction of an education project that strives to mobilize the necessary knowledge regarding the production of a plural and democratic ethnic-racial consciousness in the pedagogical practices of reading in elementary school, in the EJA modality, in a rural school. In order to better problematize the relationship between multicultural knowledge and ethnic-racial awareness, a reading activity and a questionnaire will be carried out with black and brown students from a school on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. The book “A Bela Adormecida do Samba” (2021), by the author Sonia Rosa, will be used as a tool, The research paradigm will be qualitative and interpretive in order to analyze the visibility and representation of black and brown bodies and black culture in areas that permeate the formation of citizenship, enriching ethnic-racial relations at school and beyond, to the detriment of racist and stereotyped behaviors, as well as prejudice against Afro-Brazilian culture. Through the analysis of the data and as a contribution, this research will be a way of unveiling the understanding of the process of transformation of being (COUTO and JOVINO, 2022), under the ethnic-racial and sociocultural aspects, in which the actors who narrate are involved.
