SUMMARY:

This study will deal with causality relations, with the main objective of contributing to a better textual interpretation, through the identification of cause and consequence relations. It is expected, in the meantime, to reach other reflections: understanding about cause and effect, recognition of causal/ consecutive connectives and these relations by the lexicon, reflection on causal relations in constructions not so classified and expansion of reading comprehension, enabling  to apply these notions in everyday situations and in other semioses. It will be based on Cognitive Linguistics, theory of mental spaces (Fauconnier); Textual Linguistics, cohesion and coherence studies (Koch);  will consider prescriptions of Traditional Grammar on causality and reflect on broader and usage-oriented views, as proposed by the Descriptive Grammar (Azeredo and Neves). The methodology will be action research (Tripp), by providing the teacher a reflection on his practice, allowing him/her to transform it; and will observe qualitative aspects. A didactic sequence will be elaborated with texts from the journalistic domain (Marcuschi), starting from the conceptualization of cause and consequence and encompassing reflective activities on the value of the causal relationship and its application in several (con)texts. It is not a priority to memorize nomenclatures, but rather to ensure that the student comprehensively understands the occurrences of causality and knows how to apply him/her in different contexts.  Multimodal and multisemiotic resources will be used, highlighting "Stop Motion" application, by providing the application of the idea of causality in more than one semiosis and explore the multiliteracies, a factor that dialogues with the student and gives them the opportunity to participate more collaboratively in the teaching-learning process (Rojo).
