Lexical ambiguity in comic strips: developing reading competence in the 6th year of Elementary School
Reading. Interpretation. Understanding. Elementary School. Ambiguity. Comic strips.
This project aims to develop a didactic mediation with activities for reading, interpreting and understanding texts, focusing on lexical ambiguity – due to polysemy or homonymy – in comic strips. This is action research (Thiollent, 1986), whose product is originally intended for students in the sixth year of Elementary School at a municipal school in Nilópolis/RJ, a city located in the Metropolitan Region of the State of Rio de Janeiro/RJ. The aim is also to apply them and disseminate the results of this application in the dissertation that will derive from it. According to Thiollent (1986), action research combines results of previous work with the knowledge of those involved. More specifically, they act together, in a participatory or cooperative manner, in order to resolve or mitigate collective problem(s). In the present case, the observation of students' difficulties in reading, interpreting and understanding texts aroused the interest in developing material aimed at acquiring reading, capable of encouraging them to develop their creative and participatory potential in the society they live in. integrate. With the application of the educational product, the aim is, therefore, that: i) they feel part of the teaching-learning process; ii) reflect on how they read, interpret and understand the texts the texts they have access to; iii) develop their autonomy regarding reading and interpretation practices; iv) explore the possibilities of interpreting and understanding multimodal texts, based on comic strips; and v) can act more actively in social dynamics, becoming more linguistically competent.
