RESUMO:

Developing reading skills in students is a real challenge in the school context for any teacher. However, the school must be seen as an ideal place for reading happen. Therefore, if we expect our students be motivated to read a text and build meaning for it, we need to increase their interest in those texts. For this, the teacher needs to offering them readings closer to the his preferences, that is, offer them texts that are closer to the realities of the students. Differently, the usual is the school to privilege the classical genres and authors and this manner, the reading becomes exhausting, inaccessible; bringing discontent to both the teacher and the students. Into this context, this work presents, with the objective of stimulating the students´ reading skills, practical classroom activities, exploring the textual genre meme, as one more possibility to develop the construction of senses and critical reflection, taking in consideration that the school must insert in its daily practices with the genres read and created in virtual environments. Present in our students' daily routines, memes are a good alternative to the classroom because they can contribute to the success of many school activities. Guiding the elaboration of this activity, the concepts of language, text, reading and textual genres were approached, establishing a relationship with Bakhtinian ideas, which support the theories of contemporary authors such as Marcuschi 2007,2008,2010), Dionísio (2010, 2011, 2014), Koch (1992,2011, 2015), Rojo (2012, 2015,) Solé (1998), among others.
