INTERTEXTUAL STRIPS IN THE READING AND PRODUCTION OF DIRECTION FROM THE ARMANDINHO STRIPS
reading; strip; intertextuality; teaching.
The main purpose of this research is to investigate the way students on their final years of high school in the public educational system identify the intertextual relation between the textual genre strips (specifically, the strips of Armandinho, by Alexandre Beck) with other multimodal texts. The specific objectives assumed are: (1) to encourage students to understand the mixed language present in the strips as something important for their human, historical, social and cultural construction as determined by the BNCC; (2) to develop students' critical awareness so that they can express themselves in a better way, place themselves and share information in their social environment; (3) to expand students' world knowledge through the reading of different multimodal texts; (4) to encourage students to know and notice the effects of meaning in texts, identifying the established criticisms as well as the effects of the intertext. This approach will have as theoretical support, conceptions about reading, textual/discursive genres, multimodality, the textual genre strips and aspects of intertextuality, topics based on the theories of Bakhtin (1953,1997, 2011), Solé (1998), Leffa (1996), Marcuschi (2005, 2008), Koch (2018), Dionísio (2008), Rojo (2012, 2015), Vergueiro (2018), McCloud (2006), Ramos (2017), among others, in addition to the guidelines for Portuguese language teaching proposed by the PCNs (1998) and the BNCC (2006). For this, the qualitative methodology will be used with action research methods of Tripp (2005) and didactic sequence based on the methodology of Dolz, Noverraz, and Schneuwly (2004). The first operational procedures for mediation were a questionnaire to check the students' reading proficiency and another one to identify their favorite themes on reading strips. Some diagnostic activities were also used to verify the hypothesis raised, that is, the difficulty that many students have in establishing the intertextual relations between the strips and their intertext. An average of 40 students from two high school classes participated in this study at a public elementary school in Paciência, located on the West of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The information obtained through these activities add important data to students' reading development, in addition to allow the verification of a small number of students who identify and establish intertextual relations. Finally, the importance of reading texts from different text genres and expanding the students' world knowledge is highlighted.
