SUMMARY:

This work has a guiding theme women´s empowerment through literature. The objects of study are texts from the genres romance anda poetry which were taught to students of ninth grade of middle school from the municipal schools in Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro. Following the orientations of the public education network for the three last bimesters of the school year. José de Alencar´s novel: Senhora were chosen since they disclose strong feminine character who faced the patriarchy, theme present in this book. Afterwards, to enhance the textual genre poem, the students did activities with lyrics of rap and hip hop songs and so that they  could present their creations during an event at school, in a battle poetry slam. They will continue to use the central theme as a study focus throughout the second half of school year.
