SUMMARY:

This project aims to prepare the poetry workshop Paira Além dos Muros, which will culminate in the form of a poetic soiree as a complementary activity to the teaching of textual production in Portuguese. It will be carried out with students from the 6th year (af 102) of elementary school at C.E Rubem Braga, belonging to the Special Directorate of Prison and Socio-Educational Units (Diesp), located on the premises of the Benjamin de Moraes Filho Penal Institute, male prison, in Bangu , in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The research will be based on Vygotsky's socio-constructivist theory, but with a focus on the perspective of Paulo Freire's work entitled Pedagogy of Autonomy whose subtitle Knowledge necessary for educational practice serves as a contribution to the autonomous thinking that one wants to produce in the specific environment that is the prison. They will be reflections on theory and practice that accentuate the criticality of educational practice, without it being lost in exaltations of irresponsible activism (FREIRE, 1996). The main problem that hinders the evolution of this thought is the structural racism present in Brazilian society, whose reflexes are evident in the institution of the prison as a place to punish, and maintained by a reactionary ideology (ALMEIDA, 2019). This discourse negatively influences the teaching-learning process, not only in the Portuguese Language subject, but also in other subjects. It is proposed as objective to establish reflections with the students, mutually, about the place that is the prison, its origins, its reason to exist, because educating in this environment is a challenge to elucidate which elements can interfere in the re-education of the detained student. However, it is thought of an innovative proposal for teaching guided and guided by debates about crime and violence in the streets. Therefore, it will be necessary to point out alternatives that motivate the inmate student to reevaluate concepts related to life in society, specifically focusing on the words for the construction of the poems, their uses through the signifiers and meanings when assuming connotations according to the ideology behind them. Words and their meanings vary from the conception of language that ideology figures (ORLANDI, 1983). With these objectives, the Paira Além dos Muros poetry workshop will be held in six classes throughout the first semester of the 2023 academic year and will culminate in a day with the exhibition of students’ poems to the school community. As a driving instrument for textual production, some texts by the poet Solano Trindade will be used, taken from the book Poemas Anthológicos Solano Trindade, for intrinsically dialoguing with the reality of life of inmates, mostly black.
