Language as a reflective practice on issues surrounding racism: #myfirstpoliceabuse.

This dissertation research was born from the desire to contribute to the construction of an anti-racist education project in the second elementary school segment. Methodologically, the research is qualitative, interpretative and collaborative in nature, focusing on an event of critical racial literacy, emotional literacy, in particular, a reading practice with questions at inferential and reflective levels (APPLEGATE, QUINN and APPLEGATE, 2002) to build understandings about “racism”, considering the experiences of the participants, faced with social conflicts of this nature. The data analysis aims to contribute to the construction of the fight against racism based on understanding the participants' race awareness, the relationship between the reports narrated according to proposed reading questions. As a contribution, by uniting emotional literacy with critical racial literacy, the aim is to construct an educational practice that not only denounces injustices but also welcomes and validates the emotions involved in these processes. Therefore, this research is based on the struggles that need to be fought, combat relationships which the school must always be ready to engage in. And win.
