RESUMO:

According to diachronic (DUARTE, 1993; BRAVIN DOS SANTOS, 2006, 2010) and synchronic (COELHO et. al., 2010; GRAVINA, 2014) researches in Variation area, Brazilian Portuguese manifests a change process in progress, going from a null subject language, mainly due to the simplification of the pronominal paradigm, to a negative markup language in the pro-drop parameter. Thus, this work, based on the contributions of Sociolinguistics to teaching, especially the theory of linguistic variation continuums (BORTONI-RICARDO, 2004), intends to describe the phenomenon of variation presented above in texts of 6th grade middle school students, in a municipal public school from Itatiaia. The objectives are as follows: (i) to provide a contribution to Portuguese teaching with regard to the systematic approach to linguistic variation in the classroom, as proposed by official documents such as the National Curricular Common Base; (ii) to favor the literacy of the students involved in the research, making them able to recognize the most frequent variants in both orality or literacy events, bringing them closer to the linguistic practices of the educated individuals. In order to achieve the objectives mentioned above, a pedagogical mediation was developed with the application of retextualization activities from oral texts to written (MARCUSCHI, 2010) in these genres: experience report and causo. In general, the results have showed that the writing of the students participating in the research, previously with many full subjects as a reflection of orality, has begun to present a higher frequency of null subjects, approaching the written practice of the literate society, which favors the deletion of the subject's position in literacy events, that is, in texts mediated by the written culture. Therefore, it was noticed that students, when they realize the linguistic variation, tend to use language in a reflexive way, efficiently transiting between orality and literacy events, thus increasing their linguistic performance, goal defended by the official documents that establish guidelines for teaching (BRASIL, 1998, 2001, 2016).
