Cognitive and metacognitive aspects as a support for Reading comprehension in high leve and reflective global, inferential processes.

This project investigates the cognitive and metacognitive processes in pedagogical situations related to the comprehension of the narrative texts, with high level inferential questions and global reflective, for students of the 9th grade. Specifically, the objective is to rethink strategies that help students to develop and broaden the awareness of processes related to reading comprehension within the framework of inference. Among the processes of inference, this study interests the process of association between world knowledge and text, in order to construct a logical conclusion, as well as, to express and defend an idea, relating it to the actions of the characters or to the results of the events. It is assumed that the path of metacognition is the best way for the individual to become aware of their process of reading comprehension. Thus, as an action-research methodology, the identification of the profile of the readers is adopted; the analysis of the difficulties presented in establishing inferences and their weighting, together with the apprentice, in order to understand the processes that led them to perform or not the requested inferences. Therefore, a Diagnostic Test of Reading Comprehension with Inferential Questions and Answers was developed, considering the establishment of high level inference, which requires the integration of previous knowledge to intratextual information, as well as issues of global reflective level. From the metacognitive reflection on inferences with the learners, it is intended to structure a proposal of intervention based on the recognition of the cognitive and metacognitive processes involved in the inference that help the learners to develop awareness of the processes of reading comprehension.
