SUMMARY:

The main objective of this paper is to portray the relationship between literature and theater, which is a tool for students' literary awakening. For that purpose, the students will first read in full the important work of literature, “Leite do Peito”. The book by Geni Mariano Guimarães, a black author who won the Jabuti and Adolfo Aisen awards for one of her works, was chosen for its representative character, since this work goes beyond literary issues and also proposes to debate human issues, especially those of ethnic-racial character. In this sense, the following specific objectives are assumed: allow students to have contact with the literary universe, outside the perspective of school discipline; demonstrate that literature, like all art, is a reflection of the concrete world; and verify if the theater can be configured as a way to transform them into subject-readers at the same time that it puts them in the spotlight as subject-actors, since they will do the dramatization of selected stories. For this project, the perspective of actionresearch will be adopted due to its practical character, using as a theoretical basis, in the field of theater, the work of BOAL (2014, 2019) with his writings on the Theater of the Oppressed and NASCIMENTO (in ALMADA, 2009) with its legacy on the Teatro Experimental do Negro. The part that refers to literature is based on the work of COLOMER (2007). The research, of a qualitative character, will be carried out in a class of 8th grade of Elementary School of the Municipal School Professor Leopoldo Machado, located in the central region of the municipality of Queimados, Baixada Fluminense, with students aged between 13 and 15 years.
